In light of the recent events in Fort McMurray, the Porkapalooza BBQ Festival Society has determined that this annual community festival should take their initiative one step further and collaborate for a one of a kind fundraising event to support our family and friends in Fort McMurray.
Fundraising Efforts:
The Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation is ready to accept donations from individuals and corporations, for which tax receipts will be issued. The Foundation will rely on an independent committee of Fort McMurray stakeholders (including the Rotary Clubs and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo) for advice on disbursal of the funds. This will ensure that the funds reach the people that need it the most, and that the local community will have a voice in how the money is best used.
ATB Financial will add 15% to all donations made via credit cards through this fund.
The Rotary Club will also be on site throughout the festival accepting financial donations and operating a telethon with further details to be announced in the coming days.
Concert Series Performances:
Headlined by The Sheepdogs, Gord Bamford, and Loverboy, it will feature three genres of music over three days.
Friday, June 17 (Modern Rock) - The Sheepdogs, The Dudes, The Wet Secrets, The Royal Foundry
Saturday, June 18 (Country) - Gord Bamford, Diamond Rio, The Washboard Union, Hey Romeo, Trevor Panczak
Sunday, June 19 (Classic Rock) - Loverboy, Headpins, Prism
How to Buy Tickets:
3-Day and Single Day Passes are available for purchase via www.Ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-888-985-5000. With the purchase of a 3-day pass, you will also receive an Edmonton Eskimos game day ticket for June 18.
How to Help:
As you can imagine, an event of this calibre requires a lot of assistance. Any members of the community who want to help, please volunteer at http://porkapalooza.ca/volunteers-2/.
And of course, by buying a ticket, you're helping to support our fundraising efforts.
Porkapalooza BBQ Festival is a community event that gives Edmontonians the chance to experience the art and culture of BBQ. At its heart, it's a BBQ competition, but it has grown to embrace all of the elements of a festival, including local food trucks, a Kids Zone playground, food demonstration stage and plenty of LIVE entertainment. The festival is organized by the Porkapalooza BBQ Festival Society, Alberta Pork, Mison Consulting and EKG Entertainment Group.
