My name is Eli Schrader and I am from Leduc, Alberta but have lived in the McKernan Neighbourhood for the past 8 years. I went to the University of Alberta for a degree in Recreation, Sport and Tourism and graduated in 2012. I come from a business background through my family, the first job I obtained leaving university specialized in leasing negotiations and marketing. I did this for multiple years and eventually went into a marketing, event coordination and community partnership position for a variety of different non-profits. I obtained a senior level position however, I still had a desire to be more hands on within a community and left to work for an inner city agency as a housing worker.

 

This agency was the Bissell Centre and only after being there for two years come April 9th, 2016, I have successfully become a team lead for 6 different community programs and manage one program that is the first preventative homeless project of its kind in Canada. In addition to this I act as a community consultant for a foundation that aims to better process or addressing systematic gaps within our current social structure. I have enormous interest in wanting to become more involved in the community that I reside in and to collaborate with others to make the Whyte Avenue, Edmonton and greater area a better place for all. Community development is my passion and I am eager to learn, listen and work on what is needed within the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue.

 

In accordance with our club bylaws (see 3.2.5 below), please indicate within seven days (7), by return email to the Club Secretary, Stan Kodric, if you have any knowledge that Eli does not meet the Rotary Four-Way Test and you object to the admission of him as new member, or if you require additional information regarding this candidate.
 
3.2.5 If the Board does not receive a written objection from a Member in Good Standing to the admission of the prospective Active Member, stating the reasons for such objection, within seven (7) days following the publication of information about the prospective Active Member pursuant to section 3.2.4, the prospective Active Member shall be considered to be elected to membership.
