A motion was presented to the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue on the nomination of Alice for membership into the club.
Laura Morie has nominated her. Here is her bio:  My legal name is Dao My An Huynh, but I prefer to be called Alice. I was born in Vietnam and grew up there until I moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada when I was seventeen years old. I had the most amazing high school experience in Vietnam, and a wonderful family that always supports and trusts me. Theoretical physicist Richard Feynman, with his humor and intelligence, has inspired me to learn particle physics. I wanted to go to the university to pursue a bachelor in physics. The policy of not allowing international students to work during high school did not allow me to save any money to go to the university. And I could not get any scholarships. And the closest thing I could get to learn particle physics is the Nanotechnology System diploma at NAIT. In April 2017, I completed the Nanotechnology System Diploma at NAIT. I am currently working at Starbucks. But I am constantly looking for opportunities to challenge myself to learn new skills such as volunteering for Edmonton Humane Society, and Edmonton Habitat for Humanity. Now I am joining the Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue to expand my professional network, and to learn new skills. Eventually, I want to work at a Nuclear Reactor, and Fusion Reactor even as a technician. I want to work in those places because I believe it is the future of energy that would make billions of lives easier, and it is one of many solutions to climate change. In accordance with our club bylaws (see 3.2.5 below), please indicate within seven days (7), by return email to the Club Secretary, Lauren Emery, if you have any knowledge that Alice does not meet the Rotary Four-Way Test and you object to the admission of her as a new member, or if you require additional information regarding this candidate.
3.2.5 If the Board does not receive a written objection from a Member in Good Standing to the admission of the prospective Active Member, stating the reasons for such objection, within seven (7) days following the publication of information about the prospective Active Member pursuant to section 3.2.4, the prospective Active Member shall be considered to be elected to membership.
