Building Community at the Neighbour Centre Christmas Dinner

The Rotary Club of Edmonton Whyte Avenue was in the holiday spirit this past Thursday when we helped our community partner the Neighbour Centre kick off its annual Christmas Dinner! The Neighbour Centre is a non-profit organization that supports homeless and marginalized people in Edmonton. 

Rotary's support for this great Christmas Dinner spurs from our commitment to the Neighbour Centre's Dinner Club. At the Diner Club, Rotarians, volunteers, community members, and neighbours experiencing poverty and homelessness come together on a weekly basis to prepare, cook, and eat a meal. This Christmas Dinner had people in need and community members from across Edmonton come together to celebrate the holidays.  Our very own Whyte Ave Rotarians and friends played an integral part in the planning of this dinner by donating our time, serving meals, helping with the set-up and clean-up, as well as through the countless dessert donations to help make sure this event was a success.

Meals and good times were shared between volunteers, neighbour’s experiencing poverty or homelessness,  friends, and members of the community.  Thank you to Marilyn and Kristin for all their hard work organizing Rotary's participation in the Christmas Dinner and thank you to all who volunteered, donated, and took part!
