Here is a nice message of thanks from Mary Murphy of the Mustard Seed's Neighbour Centre for our club's support of their weekly Dinner Club program:
"Thank you to the Rotary Club of Edmonton on Whyte Avenue for your financial support and the generous gift of your time and talents!
When we were able to share meal making and gather around a communal table to share our delicious creations and conversations you often taught us cooking techniques, made creative desserts out of our ‘interesting’ ingredients and lead us into so many interesting with intriguing conversations with questions of the day.
Included here are some photos of our Rotary Club partners as they supported and shared in those wonderful Thursday evenings around the kitchen cooking together then sharing a meal (including our bigger Christmas dinner.
We have heard from several Dinner Club participants who are hopeful for some form of return to our weekly shared meals. Their main comment is “ I miss getting together.” One even added, that she was surprised she missed the get togethers.
The Mustard Seed’s Dinner Club has been generously supported by the Rotary Club of Edmonton of Whyte Avenue with the generous donation of $7,280.00. Their grant arrived shortly after our quarantine but their support continues! We have heard how much people miss the weekly gathering of making meals together, laughing and sharing conversation.
