Why would you want to be a Rotarian ? by Bill Gordon

New Rotarian Bill Gordon shared what led him to join Rotary including the group he started with his students from Bev Facey High School in Sherwood Park: The Loyal Order of the P.U.P (Practitioners of Underground Philanthropy). Their mission is to spread love, compassion, and beauty through random acts of kindness.

A  P.U.P.P.I (A Practitioner of Underground Philanthropy and Positive Interactions) promises to:
1. Treat oneself and others with respect.
2. Give oneself a "gift" (friendship, laughter, time, love, family, etc.) each day.
3. Engage in an act of kindness each week.
4. Engage in an act of beauty each month.
5. Take the time to tell the important people in our life how much we appreciate them.
A few of us are now proud new members of the Loyal Order of the P.U.P and hope to extend the status of PUPPI to all of our fellow club members.

The FISH! Philosophy : Catch the energy and release the potential by Wendy Mac Donald
The FISH! Philosophy is a workplace management system inspired by the observed work culture at Seattle's Pike Place Fish Market based on four key concepts:
1. Play- It should not feel like work. Have fun!
2. Make Their Day - Make every person you interact with happy
3. Be There- Not only in body, be present in mind too
4. Choose Your Attitude

Wendy Mac Donald gave us a glimpse of how can we bring these principles to every club meeting and service project. And once we will be there...no more attraction and retention issue for our Membership committee!

Meeting with over 200 Rotarians from across our district was also great opportunity to sharing the best practices, and our five representatives are bringing home fresh ideas of what works in other clubs and could be applied to ours.

The training ended at the pub nearby, with smart juice and more fellowship to help process all that information.
