Shut Out Polio

In January, we have a very special event planned. Rotary District 5370 and the Edmonton Oil Kings have once again partnered to SHUT OUT POLIO!
Sunday, January 17 @ 6 pm - Edmonton Oil Kings versus the Kamloops Blazers
Tickets are $27 and $10 from each ticket goes to our Polio Plus campaign that will help eradicate Polio world wide.

This $10 will be matched by both the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation along with the Government of Canada making each $10 contribution $50.
Polio Plus:
We are still waiting for confirmation that there were no further cases of polio reported on December 31, 2015 but I thought I would share the results to December 30 for now.
The numbers in brackets are the year to date numbers for 2014, the total number of cases reported for 2014 was 359:
December 30, 2015:
Afghanistan – 19 (26) – last case November 19, 2015
Pakistan – 51 (290) – last case November 21, 2015
Total year to date – 70(341)
With only 2 countries left with reported cases of Polio, we are VERY close!
