The killing of George Floyd at the hands of police officers is tragic, shocking, and demonstrates the prevalence of racism and discrimination in our society.  Our sincerest condolences to the family of George Floyd.

Rotary Whyte Avenue has always aimed to serve the club, community, and others by following Rotary's Four Way Test:

Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

This test leaves no room for racism and discrimination of any kind.

With this in mind, we would like to highlight in particular the following from Rotary International's Statement:

"At Rotary, we have no tolerance for racism. Promoting respect, celebrating diversity, demanding ethical leadership, and working tirelessly to advance peace are central tenets of our work.

We have more work to do to create more just, open and welcoming communities for all people.

We know there are no easy fixes and that challenging conversations and work lie before all of us. Rotary’s strength has long been our ability and commitment to bringing people together. We will tap into that strength now as we stand with those who are working for peace and justice."

Black lives matter. There is much more work we need to do to build a society free of discrimination. We as a club will continue our pledge to serve others and make our communities better through service.

If you have any comments or if there is anything we as a club could be doing better, please do not hesitate to contact President Kevin at kggmcleod@hotmail.com.
