Fundraising Committee - Compost sale fundraiser
Saturday May 10 our club will be selling organic soil, in partnership with Clean it Green it and the Ellerslie Gift and Garden in Edmonton. Proceeds will go towards supporting the youth at risk in the Whyte Ave area. Our committee is working hard on pre-selling as much as possible compost bags and  filling up the volunteer shifts to both advertize prior to the event, bag and sell during the event.

Public Relations Committee - The secrets to selling dirt
The committee is in full support of the compost sale fundraiser. Messaging on how good our dirt is for your garden is quite a inspiring challenge!

Community Service Committee - "Vocational Mentorship and Educational Support" scholarship

Taryn McLachlan-Yuzicapi and Nikki Web have been selected to be the recipients of a scholarship co-financed by our club and District 5370. Both of them will receive a $1,500 scholarship going towards their school tuition. Taryn graduated from the Learning Store in January and is getting ready to enroll this September at NorQuest to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Taryn lives independently with her daughter Maycie and was warmly recommended by Nicole Drysdale Teacher/Counselor, Circle Square Learning Store.

Former iHuman youth Nikki co-facilitates the Uncensored program, a participatory research collaboration between IHuman youth society and UofA based on workshops educating service providers about youths’ experiences. She is preparing for a Bachelor of Child and Youth Care program at Grant MacEwan University starting this September. Nikki was recommended by Dr. Diane Conrad Associate professor Drama/Theater education, U of A.

Youth Service Committee - RYPEN sponsorship

YESS youth Destiny Habing is going to the Rotary leadership camp RYPEN on May 7-11, 2014! RYPEN is an intensive five-day program of self discovery, through seminars, speakers and physical activities, focused on helping young people develop their self-confidence, self-motivation and goal-setting. Whyte Ave Rotary is proud to sponsor Destiny who has regularly taken part in our club's vocational mentorship activities over the past two years in collaboration with YESS and OSYS.

 

International Service Committee - Belize playground donation

The playground our club sponsored is now installed in San Ignacio Belize!!!  Many thanks to the team of our Rotary District 5370 led by Wendy Andrews and including dynamic groups of young Rotarians from Interact Clubs

Now is an exciting time as we are looking forward to welcoming Stan, Betty, Tamara and Chad to join the ranks of the Fun Fearless and Focused rotarians of the Whyte Ave club! 

 

Foundation Committee - Goal almost reached
