Last Meeting Tuesday April 21
Last Tuesday April 21st we welcomed Lance Bell (Manager of Save On Foods Old Strathcona), where he talked on the Save On Foods Community Initiatives. Lance was a guest BBQ chef at our 4th Annual Hockey Night on Whyte event in September, where Save On Foods also contributed a significant amount of food to feed our hungry hockey players. The local Old Strathcona store has been open since 2000, with a significant renovation in 2013. The store has a very unique clientele - vs other Edmonton stores, Lance's store sells more organic and health food and fish than any of the other 30 stores in the district - and is last in red meat sales! They do lots with the Stollery Hospital (the annual Hair massacre), and they also partner with MADD, the local Parkinsons walk, the Santas shuffle, AIDS walk, U of A food bank, and they do a BBQ every second Tuesday of the month for the Ronald McDonald House. Each store is given an annual budget, and Lance and his team go over it annually to make sure they are not getting too stretched.
Thank you Lance and team for the great partnership we are enjoying with your organization! And here is a picture of Idris presenting Lance and his team with prestigious Whyte Avenue Rotary pens!
