This past year, the Council on Legislation voted on many changes to allow clubs to flexible, grow and offer many new options for membership, meeting times and more. One of those options was to allow a Rotaractor to be a member of both a Rotaract club and a Rotary club. On September 20, our FUN FEARLESSS & FOCUSED  Rotary club was one of the first to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.

Here is Ellie's amazing bio:

I have been involved with Rotary since 2012! My journey with Rotary started with the International Youth Exchange Program. I was sent to D3480 as a representative for my high school. And during the year, we started an Interact club in my school in Taiwan.

I was an exchange student in Westlock in 2012 - 2013. And, by the end of my exchange year, I also had a great opportunity to help Westlock Interact start their fundraising! The year I spend in Westlock has totally changed my life ever since. I participated in lots of Rotary events and even had a chance to join RYLE camp. Because of Rotary, I have gotten to know myself better, and determine who I really want to be. I wouldn't be where I am today without Rotary.

I acted as a host for Naoaki Murakami when the group of young people from Fukishama toured our District in the summer of 2016.

Here is a short story. I was accepted at U of A, U of C and Hawaii Pacific University (HPC). HPE seemed to be the most attractive option and they had offered me a huge amount of scholarship assistance. However, I still made my mind up for U of A because deep in my heart, I am so connected to those host families I have in Westlock and many enthusiastic Rotarians in D5370. So, I WANT to come back to this big community continuing this amazing journey with Rotary, Rotaract and Interact!

This is TRULY a story of how Rotary impacts the lives of so many.

Congratulations Ellie and welcome to our club!
