In preparation for our club's tree planting event on May 31st, Catherine Falk from the City of Edmonton's Root for Trees give a presentation.  Catherine outlined the history of this program and how it contributes to the well-being of our city.
Root for Trees was launched in 2013. Its key objective was creating a diverse and sustainable urban forest, supplementing the city's resources with the assistance of civic-minded individuals, community groups and businesses.

In 2016 they hosted 138 tree planting events, in which 4,120 volunteers planted more than 36,000 trees and shrubs.  The efforts of volunteers will pay long lasting dividends in regards to the city's ecosystem, visual appeal and overall liveability.

This year there will be several opportunities for individuals, families and groups of various sizes to participate.
