At our last meeting we had a presentation from Kelly Sysak, a Development Officer with Edmonton's Bissell Centre.

Kelly Sysak gave us an in depth presentation on all of the work that Bissell Centre does. While it is a drop in space for those who require basic needs we learned that it is much more. Everything that Bissell Centre does is built around the goal of eliminating poverty and helping people to permanently move out of poverty. Individuals can access the Community Space where they can have a shower, have a meal, do their laundry and receive clothing should they need it. We learned they can also access many of the programs and supports that Bissell Centre offers. There are Housing Teams, Employment programs, Mental Health Supports, Financial Empowerment supports, Community Bridge, an eviction prevention program, the daycare, and many more. Once we are able to do so we will go for a tour of Bissell Centre. Thank you for the presentation, Kelly.
