On Tuesday we had Anna-Marie Robertson join us online from the UK to talk about how Rotary has made an impact in her life. Anna-Marie completed her law degree at Cambridge University in July, and now with the help of a Rotary Global Grant, she is going to continue her studies in law by starting a master of laws degree in National Security Law at Georgetown University as a Georgetown National Security Law Scholar.

Anna-Marie has an impressive academic and service background. In addition to her law degree, she holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Transnational Law and Human Rights (Carleton University) and a Certificate in International Affairs and Strategy (Sciences Po). Prior to her legal studies, Anna-Marie held various positions at the Canadian Red Cross and has been deployed to a number of disasters across Canada. She is currently works as Senior Advisor, Government Relations at the Canadian Red Cross. Anna-Marie is a former Rotary Youth Exchange Student (2012-2013); following her exchange, Anna-Marie returned home to Edmonton where she engaged with Rotary as a Rotex student and established an Interact Club at her high school. Anna-Marie was awarded the Rotex Scholarship (District 5370) for her commitment to service and further recognized by the Rotary Club of Edmonton as a Paul Harris Fellow.

We are so happy that the Whyte Avenue Rotary Club was able to work with other District 5370 Rotary Clubs to help make this Global Grant Scholarship happen for Anna-Marie - she is such a deserving recipient and we look forward to hearing about her studies when she comes back to visit our club again. All the best in your studies Anna-Marie!
