The Amarok Society has shared an update on the progress of The Combined Rotary Women's School in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Rotary Club of Whyte Avenue, in partnership with five other Rotary Clubs and the Amarok Society, helped to fund the building of the school in 2018. This school is in a slum area with more than 150 families living in a crowded area. Every afternoon, 25 women from this slum attend the school. Each mother who attends the Amarok mini-school teaches her own children, as well as five neighborhood children, what she has learned.
Some highlights from the 2019 Field Monitoring Report:
-Women attending the school have reported that they have attained better jobs that allow them to contribute money to their families
-The children enrolled in formal government primary schools are more successful with the support of the Amarok mini-school
-There is increased value placed upon education in the community, which has led to fewer child brides
-The school library has developed into a successful community library
