SCHOLARSHIP ACTIVITIES

tod ringenberg

Last week, I reported that we had six Rotary members assist with the evaluation of the written applications and that we had narrowed our selection down to three students at each school.  Doug Heim, Rita Kleeman and I conducted the scholarship interviews that morning (at Elkhorn High and Elkhorn South). The DC West student interviews were also conducted (by Jim Tomanek and Dr. Paul Dritley).

On Thursday, I will provide an update and announce our scholarship winners at each of the three schools.  The students and their guidance counselors have already been notified of our selections and I have forwarded the names to the Elkhorn Foundation.

Our scholarship recognition breakfast will be held on April 14th.  Scholarship recipients, parents and school administrators (Principals and Guidance Counselors) have been invited to attend.
LAST WEEKS MEETING NOTES - Mar 24
The meeting started with Dave Rosacker giving the invocation and leading us in the pledge of allegiance.

Rita reported a check book balance of $5,910.98

Thanks to the people who arrived early to start the setup of tables and chairs and those who stayed behind to put everything away.

Jim reported on the Lunch Bunch and about Cal Hinz's Report on the Bourbon Trail.

There was no kitty winner so the pot is building up which should encourage more ticket purchases.

Nothing happened on the Ides of March (March 15), no one was stabbed in a coup, but Roger didn't show up at our meeting on the 24th  April Fool's Day is the day after this weeks meeting.  Be careful out there of "jokesters"!
LAST WEEKS SPEAKER - March 24

CHAIR

Our speaker of the day.  Our scheduled speaker later sent an email apologizing for a "Junior Moment" (editors interpretation).  Everything worked out well because we had time to expand on scholarship program and hear a few more of Mike's jokes.
We will try to reschedule the scheduled speaker later in the Spring or early Summer, perhaps.
