LUNCH BUNCH TOMORROW (The 27th)

Good morning fellow Rotarians!

This Wednesday, January 27^th is our next Rotary Lunch Bunch meeting. We will be meeting at noon at Sam & Louie’s Pizza in Elkhorn. Our speaker will be Elizebeth Murphy, president, Emspace Group, a communications organization that helps nonprofit groups brand their name and grow.

NOTE FROM NEIL ON SPEAKERS

On January 28 Rolly is bringing Joe Ricketts on his Project Cloisters on the Platte, as his guest. Joe started Ameritrade years ago but now is involved in charitable work that he will tell us about. Joel Haver from Haver Auto will be our guest on Feb 4th to tell us how to make our autos last longer and other new technology. On February 11th we will have Gene Klein from Project Harmony and on February 18th we will have Ron's guest speaker, Sgt Dave Staskiewiz OPD speaking on non-lethal police sidearms.

LAST WEEKS SPEAKER (Jan 21)

BILL MULDOON, SPEAKER

Neil Kirby introduced William (Bill) Muldoon, Director of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. Bill is a retired Omaha Police Sergeant after 25 years of service. The Training Center is located on the North side of Grand Island near the regional airport and it is co-located with the Nebraska State Patrol Training Center. The Center conducts a 16 week basic program addressing numerous areas such as basic policing, dispatching, supervision, physical fitness, fire arms, jail officer, roadside, tactics, emergency medical and crash investigation. The primary students, whose registration is funded by the state, are officers from municipalities and counties in Nebraska. Other students are allowed, space available. Students are pre-screened for drug abuse and assault incidents.

Of interest to Bill was a couple of legislative bills currently being considered regarding eye witnesses and body camera administration. Bill also mentioned that a portion of the funding for the Training Center comes from a charge assessed for each arrest of $2. (he didn't mention who paid the $2

LAST WEEKS MEETING NOTES

President Roger opened the meeting promptly at 7:25 AM after another delicious HyVee breakfast. Roger called upon Jeanne Weaver to give the invocation and lead us in the pledge of allegiance. We had two guests and visiting Rotarian (guess who) Larry Johansen. Treasurer Rita was called upon to report the bank balance of $6,330.68. Secretary Ron announced the need to update member data and circulated a sheet for updating by each member.

Dave Rosacker was the proud winner of a white golf ball in the drawing. Dave jokingly accused Jim Tomanek of "palming" the red ball before he reached into the bag of golf balls.

MEMBER BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY YEARS

PURPOSE

The only purpose I know for collecting birth and wedding years is to provide a membership profile of each club for review by Rotary International. The membership profile does not identify individual members. Thanks to the members in attendance last week for correcting the data sheet that I handed out, which contained mostly GUESSES by your truly, which in many cases, grossly under estimated the age of a few of our senior (in years of service in the club as well as chronological). I would also like to thank those who were absent last Thursday and responded to my email with the needed information.

I don't think they (RI) will be doing anything with the wedding anniversary year, however the month and day is important so we can recognize the birthdays and anniversaries in the bulletin.

I would request that new member sponsors in the future ensure that the birth and wedding year are inserted on the member application card.
