BILL MULDOON, SPEAKER
Neil Kirby introduced William (Bill) Muldoon, Director of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. Bill is a retired Omaha Police Sergeant after 25 years of service. The Training Center is located on the North side of Grand Island near the regional airport and it is co-located with the Nebraska State Patrol Training Center. The Center conducts a 16 week basic program addressing numerous areas such as basic policing, dispatching, supervision, physical fitness, fire arms, jail officer, roadside, tactics, emergency medical and crash investigation. The primary students, whose registration is funded by the state, are officers from municipalities and counties in Nebraska. Other students are allowed, space available. Students are pre-screened for drug abuse and assault incidents.
Of interest to Bill was a couple of legislative bills currently being considered regarding eye witnesses and body camera administration. Bill also mentioned that a portion of the funding for the Training Center comes from a charge assessed for each arrest of $2. (he didn't mention who paid the $2
