Meeting Minutes 6/14/18

Announcements/discussion:
- The Club WILL meet on July 5th and will putting some finishing touches on the golf tournament preparations.Bring cash as raffle tickets will be available for sale and if you have pin prizes to donate, those will be gladly accepted then.
- The Club WILL NOT meet on July 12th, keeping with our tradition of not meeting on “golf week”.
- Speaking of golf…The Rotary Golf Outing, which provides the funding for our scholarships, is set for July 9th at The Pines. Each member is strongly encouraged to participate and support the golf event in some way, so that the scholarship expenses can be fully funded.Contact Dan Fitzpatrick, Golf Committee Chair, to learn more Daniel.fitzpatrick@usbank.com

Presentation:
Neil Kirby introduced Lt. Jason Scott of the Nebraska State Patrol. Lt. Scott is an Elkhorn native. After servicing in the U.S. Marines, he joined the NSP and has been a Trooper for 20 years. He is a Supervising Officer for the Drug Unit and presented “Drug Trends in the Metro” He spoke about the growing problems that all drugs continue to become. He shared statistical information about methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs and cocaine. He enlightened the group regarding the problems that Colorado has had since legalizing pot and how this has created additional problems for neighboring states and the entire Midwest.
Next week’s speaker: Jasmine Moats will share highlights of her recent trip to France and Norway.
Drawing: Dave Rosacker had the winning ticket but the orange ball eluded his grasp so the pot grows (this is not to be misinterpreted by our esteemed speaker).
