LAST WEEKS SPEAKER - MISS OMAHA

Jim introduced, Aleah Peters, current MISS OMAHA.  Aleah graduated from Millard South High School and is currently at Psych Student at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  Aleah is a Sorority President and in the NU Marching Band.

 

Aleah compared the two pageants: Miss USA and Miss America in that Miss America is 45 percent service based in scoring.  She is looking forward to Miss Nebraska competition.

 

Aleah's purpose today was to talk about "bullying" which she experienced in High School and seeks to speak out on it during her term as Miss Omaha.  Aleah experienced telephone bullying and bullying at high school events.

 

Her recommendations for students experiencing bullying is to never retaliate, block the bullying and report it.  Other recommendations including prevention in which the student should think before you "post" to the internet, act with integrity, differences divide and watch your words.

 

Aleah intends to travel to elementary and high schools talking about Bullying.
