MEETING REPORT
Our Club meeting opened with the Invocation and pledge allegiance led by Jim Tomanek. Guest or prospective members were introduced, including Jeb Simon and Dan FitzPatrick. Treasurer Rita reported the checkbook balance and Secretary Ron mentioned the 111th anniversary of the founding of Rotary International. Jim Tomanek mentioned the Lunch Bunch meeting for Wednesday the 24th at Sam & Louie's.
President Roger discussed the nominating committee for new officers, including President, President-elect and Secretary, and elections will be held in March
The Progressive Dinner was discussed and Tod will send out a map of the three locations.
SPEAKING PORTION OF THE MEETING
Ron Mortensen introduced Dave Stasciewicz, Omaha Police Officer. Officer Dave is a 25 veteran of law enforcement and a 9 year member of the Nebraska National Guard. His law enforcement service included initial service with the Nebraska State Patrol for 8 years and them 17 years with the Omaha police Division. He has served in various units within the police division and specializes in fire arms, non lethal weapons and marksmanship. The subject of Dave's presentation was non-lethal weapons and contrasted them with non-weapon efforts to subdue a suspect resisting arrest. Dave explained the effectiveness of the taser and also discussed how it works. He also explained how safe the taser was regarding the electrical and high Voltage discharge. He compared the taser to the higher voltage and lower amperage of the defibrillator.
