Club member Fauneil Bennett invited Kevin Armstrong to visit with our club about the Wayne State College Foundation for our program on May 24.   Kevin told us that the Wayne State Foundation was started in 1961 to benefit and promote the college. This private support is secured for WSC and carefully stewarded by a Board of Directors to realize the greatest impact via scholarships (the core of WSF's work) and other initiatives.

Past projects supported by WSF were the Library, $$3.1 mil; Carhart Science $2.7 mil; athletic improvement $631,000; Willow Bowl, $900,000; Piano Restoration, $300,000; and money toward the Jeanne Gardner Black & Gold Performing Arts Endowment $500,000 goal.  It will be exciting to see the completion of the U.S. Conn Library renovation.

The upcoming WSC project is the new Center for Applied Technology. It is a $15.2 mil project to be funded by a state bond ($8.9 mil) and WSC & WSF ($6.3 mil).  This will increase the output of Applied Tech. teachers for high schools who will be versed in construction, manufacturing, drafting, robotics, and safety management.
