Marcella Jurotich told us about her experience of attending the 2017 World Affairs Seminar  (WAS) in Waukesha, Wisconsin, at our club meeting on July 26.  WAS was attended by students from 25 US states and 32 other countries.  The 2017 theme was Social Justice.  Presenters included a US government official who said communication is the key;  a US citizen who grew up in Saudia Arabia & Eqypt; another speaker was a filmmaker; the president of Rotary International;  and a refugee from Somolia who is helping refugees adapt to a new life.  The attendees did a diplomacy exercise, took field trips, learned Braille, did karaoke, and they put on a talent show.  Marc Bathke, a teacher at Allen HS, drove the students to Wisconsin and also told about some of what went on at WAS.  He also brought a letter from his daughter, Katie, who attended WAS but was unable to come to the Rotary meeting.  She thanked Wayne Rotary for their support and told about here experience there.
