GUATEMALA TRIP

Joan Sudman told our club about her trip to Guatemala at our meeting on May 18. Joan told us a brief history of the country. Their civil war left many widowers that have to support themselves now.

Sharing the Dream is a program that helps with marketing and developing business skills for local Guatemalan people. Purchasing their crafts provides work for the artisans plus the profits go to support community development projects in Guatemala. Sharing the Dream also supports assistance to the elderly and school scholarships. People like Joan also privately donate to the cause.

Club member Fauneil Bennett introduced Joan. They are displaying some of the beautiful crafts Joan brought back. Some of the art is displayed at a store at 10 W. Main Street in Vermillion, SD.
