GUATEMALA PROJECT PRESENTED TO CLUB

Marisa Rose was introduced to our club by her dad, Dan, at our November 23 meeting. Marisa is a familiar face to most of our members as she was a former member as well as a Rotary exchange student. She is currently a member of a New Generations Rotary club, which is comprised of younger members. She stated they usually have a service project every month. Her club is 6 years old. She told us about her trip to Guatemala. November is Rotary Foundation month.

Marisa reported 1 out of 2 Guatemalans are below the poverty line, with 1 out of 4 people illiterate. One of of 2 children suffer from chronic malnutrition. Two women are killed every day. Guatemala ranks 3rd in killings of women worldwide.
