At our club meeting on Jan. 16, we heard from Matt Samuelson with the NE Department of Transportation (used to be department of roads) who told us that bridges are inspected every two years and bridge life is about 50 years. There was work done to repair erosion on the Logan Creek bridge recently. They mentioned an overlay project on Hwy 15 from Wayne to the Concord turnoff will happen this year. In a 15 mile radius of Wayne during the last 5 years there has been $15 been spent on the roads. Projects in progress and new projects will total $21 million. In the next 10 years they expect to spend $54 million. Annually the State of NE has an outlay of approximately $400 on highway projects.
