Abby Schademann Wayne Marketing and Tourism Coordinator, spoke to our club on May 29. She told us about some changes we can expect at this year's Wayne Chicken Show on July 12 - 14. This year's theme is Chickens Around the World and t-shirts are now on sale at various locations. The decorated cement chickens will be the standard size as in the past along with some smaller ones. The native dancers from Winnebago will entertain the event goers after the auction on Friday evening. There will be a chicken cook off at Bressler Park Saturday at noon. This year's car show will be held on 2nd Street between Main and Pearl rather than at the airport. Again Wayne Rotary will assist with the parade(volunteers will be needed Friday and Saturday) with 1/2 of the registration fees going to the club and rest to the Chicken Show fund.
Abby also told us a little about the Young Professionals Club that began with an idea from Wes Blecke. It is a social group of about 130 people (no real age limit) that does monthly social activities such as lunches, potlucks, social hours etc,. to assist and educate the members about Wayne while getting to know other professionals in the area. There is a nine person steering committee.
