As a First Responders Project the club plans to assist the Omaha Fire Department Honor Guard with the purchase of garment bags. The OFD Honor Guard travels across the country to funerals of fallen Firefighters (to date for 2018, 77 firefighters in the US have lost their lives in the line of duty).  They also travel to Colorado Spring for National Firefighter Memorial Week to honor the fallen each year.

In 2017, the Omaha Police Department Honor Guard received travel garment bags (see photo).  The garment bags protected the Honor Guard uniforms, and they also represented Omaha in a way that showed how important the citizens of Omaha felt about the level of respect we had in what the Honor Guard was there to do. The bags included an OPD Honor Guard logo and a member's name  held on  with velcro so the name could be easily changed as members of the guard changed. There are 25 members in the OFD Honor Guard and the bags will cost about $65 each, inclusive of personalization for a total of about $1,600.  The bags the club will help provide will include the Northwest Rotary Club logo as well as the Omaha Fire Department Honor Guard logo. The club has pledges for $800.00 and is asking club members to consider a donation to help fund the remaining $800.00 needed for the garment bags.
