Jim Sullivan is a native Nebraskan born in Lincoln. He is a 1963 graduate of Lincoln Pius X High School and later attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln majoring in Political Science and History. His college was interrupted in 1967 by the Vietnam War and he chose to enlist in the Army rather than being drafted. He committed 4 years to join the Army Security Agency where he was assigned to the National Defense Language Institute in Monterey California to study German. After Monterey he was assigned to the Field Station Berlin where he served till August of 1971. He returned to the University and completed his degree and eventually was recruited by State Farm where he spent a 44 year career in agency in western Nebraska, South Dakota and relocating to Omaha in 1987. He retired June 30, 2020. He and his wife Joan have been married 55 years with 4 adult children and 10 grandchildren. His favorite place to visit is Scottsdale Arizona.
