Beyond the Headlines

Michael J. Krause, AFM, ALC (Accredited Farm Manager/Accredited Land Consultant) is a Vice President and the Regional Manager of the Omaha office of Hertz Farm Management, Inc., overseeing operations in Nebraska, Western Iowa and the Texas Panhandle. 

 

Following graduation from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and after receiving a Ranch Management Degree from Texas Christian University, Mike began his career in Western Nebraska on the family owned farm/ranch/feedlot near Alliance.  Mike transitioned to his farm management career in 1991 with LeDioyt Land Company which was later acquired by Hertz Farm Management, Inc.  Mike is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Nebraska, Iowa and Texas and his duties at Hertz include professional farm and ranch management, real estate sales and acquisitions, consulting, business development and administration. 

 

In 1992, Mike became a member of American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and earned his Accredited Farm Manager designation in 1997.  Mike has promoted the State Chapter through participation on numerous committees, serving on the Board of Directors and presiding as President in 2005.  He has served at the national level chairing several major committees, the District VI Vice President and was National President in 2016-2017.  In addition to ASFMRA, Mike is active in the community, having served on the Boards of Nebraska 4-H Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, Optimist and Omaha Agri-Business Club and participating in his local church, Realtors Land Institute and Rotary Club. 

 

Mike was awarded “Professional Farm Manager of the Year” at the ASFMRA annual convention held in Orlando, Florida.  Krause’s dedication to his clients, colleagues, friends and family, as well as his innovative approach and stewardship of the land he manages led to his selection as 2010 Professional Farm Manger of the Year, the professional farm management industry’s highest honor.  Mike received “The 2011 Omaha Agri-Business Leadership Award” presented at the National Ag Week Annual Banquet.  This award honors an individual that has made exceptional contributions to Agriculture.

 

Mike is married to Susie, a CPA practicing public accounting in Omaha. They have two married daughters and four grandchildren in the Omaha area.  One daughter is an ABC Certified Orthotist/Prosthetist and Clinic Manager.  The other daughter is a Doctor of Medicine in Neurocritical Care and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Sciences.
