Norfolk Rotary Club Donates $6,000 to Grant Elementary for DIBS reading program.
The Norfolk Rotary Club recently donated $6,000 to the third and fourth grade classrooms at Grant Elementary to purchase books and software through the DIBS For Kids reading program. DIBS For Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Omaha, NE that builds software that supports teachers to send more books home with their students and, in turn, make significant literacy gains in the classroom.
Marie Kovar, Director of School Support for DIBS, said “Grant has taken off with the DIBS program and it has been her pleasure to see how well it has been received, how dedicated the teachers are to providing access to in-home reading, and thank the Norfolk Rotary Club for their generosity in helping Grant to be able to expand the program.”
“The Norfolk Rotary Club was proud to collaborate with Grant Elementary with lots of help from Principal Amy Brown in providing these books for the classrooms”, said Andy Labenz, Club President in 2023-24. “We feel it is one way we can help make a big impact on the lives of children and exemplify our desire to be people of action and working together to address needs in the community”.
