The monthly evening Rotary meeting carried a Cinco de Mayo theme. A Mexican buffet was available and music was provided by Viva Jalisco.

Coleen Bressler, chairperson of the scholarship committee, introduced the five recipients of the Rotary Scholarships from the three Norfolk high schools who shared their future plans with the club.  They are Ryan Freudenburg of Lutheran High Northeast, Ashlen Pospisil of Norfolk Catholic High School, and Morgan Heimes, Ramundo Price, and Tayor Uhlir of Norfolk High School.  Criteria for judging the applications was based on academics, community service, and an essay.

Arcadio Zapado spoke about the assistance he received from the Rotary grant that allowed him and 27 other people to receive financial assistance to take the immigration exam.  This grant was a joint effort between the Norfolk Rotary Club, the two Columbus Rotary clubs, and Schuyler Rotary Club.  Kathy Cowen of Stromsburg, NE, spoke about the process for completing the immigration application form.

President Stan Christensen was acknowledged for his recent award received at the annual Rotary District 5650 conference held in Lincoln.  Stan was named as the Outstanding President of the district which is comprised of 46 local clubs throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.
