Kerri Dittrich, Public Health Dental Hygienist from Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health speaks to Rotary today about the  “Smile in Style, Preventative Oral Health Program.”

The Smile in Style program offers preventative oral health services on site at local schools and daycares. Services include:  screening, fluoride varnish, dental sealants, and education.

Students preschool through 8th grade are invited to participate.Parents are given a consent form to complete & services are provided on-site at the school. Parent donations are appreciated but not required to help with the cost of services & materials. For students with (specific) insurances, their is no “out of pocket” cost incurred/requested. Services are provided to all students regardless of ability to pay. This program supplements regular dental visits.

Kerri uses a puppet named Allan to help educate the younger students on how to brush their teeth and talk about "sugar buds", all in a fun and exciting way.

Kerri asks that organizations, such as Rotary, to please consider supporting the “Smile in Style” program.  The Nebraska Community Foundation has opportunity to match donations dollar to dollar up to $125,00.
