As we are all aware, food insecurity in our communities is at an all-time high. Even though the holiday giving season has passed, the need for food is still at a crisis level.
As a joint effort we are asking our Rotarian family and friends across Districts 5630 and 5650 to raise funds to help those in critical need of food.
In 2019 The Food Bank of the Heartland, in conjunction with the Lincoln Food Bank, distributed 22.7 million meals across 93 counties in Western Iowa and Nebraska. Beyond the more than 600 food pantries, schools, emergency shelters and other nonprofit partners directly supported, the Food Bank for the Heartland also coordinates other programs including SNAP (formerly the food stamp program), Mobile Pantry, and the Backpack Program.
