St. Johns Kiwatule medical outreach
St. John’s, Kiwatule Community Medical Outreach Project
Kiwatule is a peri-urban community on the outskirts of Kampala City situated on the border of Kampala and Wakiso Districts in Nakawa Division. Though Kiwatule is a rapidly growing market residential suburb, the middle class residents in the community are recent settlers, the majority of the native residents however are still poor peasants who are largely squatters (bibanja holders).
Through its Service Projects’ Directorate, the Rotary Club of Kiwatule resolved to undertake a monthly medical outreach program in partnership with St. John’s Christian Community to provide a free General medical clinic at St.John’s Church Kiwatule on the last Saturday of every month.
As part of the project, the Club coordinates and facilitates a team of volunteers from among the Club, the local community and its other partners in service (General Practitioners, Physicians, and Dentists) to run this half day monthly medical clinic.
The clinic offers free general outpatient services, dental care (including treatment and extractions), and immunization against the 7 killer diseases including Polio, Whooping Cough, Small Pox, TB, Diphtheria, Measles, Tetanus and Hepatitis B.
Costs per monthly Medical outreach:
Drugs: USD. $200
Payment fees for paramedics, clinical officers: USD. $100
Refreshments: USD. $50
Total: USD. 350, per month)
Special thanks to our current partners in service, including Case Medical Centre, and special call on other Corporates to join the cause.
