AT THE GONG:  

Tony kept his promise and started the meeting right at 12:15pm.  I led the Pledge and gave a few words from the Dalai Lama XIV…. There is a saying in Tibetan, "Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength no matter what sort of difficulties how painful the experience is, if we lose our hope, that's our real disaster."

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

Collected $307 from club members as a thank you to Marta for all she does for us each week.  Craig Tackabery acknowledged seeing Marta's husband Jose…whoops he meant Miguel at an event held at the Embassy Suites.  Someone donated two Crab Feed tickets for a raffle.  If you donated to Marta's present you were put into the raffle.  Nathan Cobert drew the winning ticket. 

The Party Party will be held on Jan. 5th. Please register on-line stating who you are going to bring and whether you are bringing a desert or appetizer.

Jeanne Friedel 's Birthday is Dec. 18th.  She is donating $50 to Club Foundation.Tom Martz's Birthday was last week and he will donate some money to the Crab Feed. Randy Gurrola's Birthday was on Saturday.  He turned 50. Janet Hayward's Birthday is Dec. 26 and will donate $25 to the Club Foundation. John Zeiter acknowledged that Tony Engstrom was honored by the Marin Realtors Association for his longevity in RE, 40 years.  He will donate $40 to the Club Foundation.  Miss Wayka's Birthday is Dec. 25th. 

Jeff Moss received his President Elect pin from Tony.

Sandy Magid moved that the nominations be closed.  Everyone seconded it.  Marty Malkin explained the correct procedures.  Names will be published first then we vote. 

MARBLE/RAFFLE:

Marty Malkin drew a marble but it was not the right color.  Mary Gomes won the raffle for a bottle of wine donated by Lauri Hammer. 

CLUB ASSEMBLY:              8 committee chairs: 

Secretary:   Mary Gomes:  Next year will be the same as 2012….

Treasurer:    Tamara Hull:  Money stays the same.  She will be sending members a list of missed meetings-will forgive those missed in 2012, but not going forward in 2013.

World Community Service:  Karen Koster:  Her committee has come up with a 3 year project "Precious Life" for those in Zimbabwe, South Africa.  We will partner with the Sausalito Rotary Club using the new Global Grant totaling $200M over a 3 year period.  We will hit 5 of the 6 areas that they want us to focus on.  We will help change the lives of over 100 women.  To mention a few of the areas that will be provided by the clubs are as follows:      

     Muliti purpose room

     Power to the facility

     A kitchen

     Dorm style rooms

     Fencing for organic farming and training

     High school level education program

     Daycare

     Life skills 

Community Service:  Jeanne Friedel:  Will be working with the city of San Rafael on a workday in April, safety in schools, and books for schools.  They are looking for a project for at risk teens.  T.L. High School beautification, Meals on Wheels, Marin youth court, and dictionaries for third graders are other projects.  They are looking for a long term project. 

Vocational Service - Christine Goodin:  They have two new ideas.  Instead of doing the job shadow again, will have a career day instead.  The Club will also have a business of the quarter in T.L. San Rafael that practice philanthropy work.

Club Service:  Laurie Hammer - Crab Feed,  Progressive dinner in Spring and another Pacific game social. 

New Generations: Craig Tackabery -Interact Club…thank you John Zeiter for all that he does for the club.  Car Wash joint dinner, blood drive, trip to Dominican Republic.  Collecting change for change which supports disabled kids to ride horses.  Working on a yearbook.  The Interact club will work on the Crab Feed.  Every other Thursday they meet at the terra Linda High School…everyone is invited to attend a meeting. 

Public Relations - Rich Benson.  Biggest event is the Crab Feed.  We need ambassadors to bring flyers to other clubs to announce the Crab Feed. 

Membership - Al Coddington - We need new members.

Terra Linda Rotary Foundation - Tom Martz - If everyone donates just $20 or more to the foundation it will be the 2st year that we will have 100% participation. 

Crab Feed Committee:  Jeff Moss and Tom Martz are the first two to buy full tables.  They received crab hats…Lee wanted a crab hat too so he bought a full table. 

Jeff is looking for a Secretary to help him when he is the President…any volunteers??? 

Tony Engstrom asked us to think of one large local project that the club can own.
