Under the leadership of member Bob MacDonald, the Rotary Club of West Springfield has a fifteen consecutive year history of sponsoring service projects in Shimoga, India.
These projects utilize The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and combine for a total of $333,486 in total giving. The projects have addressed the following Areas of Focus designated as critical by Rotary International-
- Fighting disease
- Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
Bob and his wife Joan traveled to India in early 2019 to see firsthand the club's projects at work.
