2016 Rotary Backpack Service Project

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the backpack project so far!   This past Wednesday, with the help of 23 additional backpacks from UBS Financial, 40 backpacks were delivered and distributed to children at the North Rampart Community Center that serves primarily children from low-income, single parent households in the nearby Treme, St. Roch, and 7th Ward Neighborhoods. 

 

Also on hand were officers with the NOPD who helped deliver and distribute the backpacks. The kids were so happy to have new supplies to start school!  In total, 80 backpacks have been delivered to date to homeless, low-income or at-risk children through three community organizations.  If you still have a filled backpack at home, please bring it to the meeting on August 3rd so it can be delivered to the New Orleans Women's and Children's Shelter.
