Finally a cure for cancer

Harry J. Gould III, MD, PhD is Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience and Tom Benson Professor of Neurology at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He received his MD from LSU and his PhD from Brown University. He has served as director of the LSU Comprehensive Pain Fellowship program and is on the Board of Directors of the American Pain Association and the Southern Pain Society.  He maintains a clinical practice and research program focused on the role of sodium channels in chronic pain and the treatment of advance-stage cancers.  He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the Neurological Sciences and Pain Medicine and has published a patient guide, Understanding Pain, for the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Gould’s research partner is Dr. Dennis Paul, a pharmacology professor also at LSU School of Medicine.  While researching the mechanisms involved in chronic pain in 2011, they discovered a potentially effective treatment for advanced cancer which they named Targeted Osmotic Lysis.  The next year they founded a company, Oleander Medical Technologies, here in New Orleans to further their research in order to take this treatment to market.
