The Saints/NFL and The Flag

Jim Henderson needs no introduction to local sports fans or Saints fans around the globe because as the legendary voice of the Saints since the 80's, no sportscaster has been as beloved.

Jim's resume is as thick and as decorated as any sportscaster. Henderson has covered just about every major sport and sporting event in the United States including the Super Bowl, Major League Baseball, the NBA and The Masters to name just a few. While few could match his broadcasting talent, his role as the voice of the Saints has cemented Henderson with local sports fans forever. Since joining the Saints radio broadcast team in the early 80's, Henderson has become synonymous with Saints football. Fans across the Gulf South have tuned into Jim's call of Saints games on WWL-AM for decades and whether it was with color announcers Archie Manning or Hokie Gajan, he's always given listeners an experience like few broadcasters ever could.

Henderson has provided Saints fans with the sound track of their teams' biggest moments and no one will ever forget his memorable calls of when the Saints clinched a Super Bowl berth after beating the Vikings in the NFC Championship game in 2009, "Pigs have flown! Hell has frozen over! The Saints are on their way to the Super Bowl!" Or when the black and gold won its first Super Bowl against the Colts, "Get ready to party with the Lombardi New Orleans! The miracle in Miami has happened! The Saints have won the Super Bowl!"

Henderson is also one of the most decorated sportscasters in the country having won 13 National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association's Sportscaster of the Year Awards and in 2011 he was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans Press Club.

Jim's career began in his hometown of Rochester, New York when he began calling little league games. He received an English degree from State University of New York at Cortland as well as a Masters degree from Syracuse.

From there Henderson did sportscasting stints at Panama City and Atlanta before coming to the Crescent City in 1978.

Jim is semi-retired with his beautiful wife and the two are the proud parents of two children and a couple of grandchildren.
