COVID-19 Report - Updated 4/21/20

From:  Randall Feldman
To:  Rotary Club of New Orleans
Date:  4/21/20
Subject:  COVID-19 REPORT

Cash Donations:
  1. Warren Easton Charter High School has received an anonymous matching pledge of $20,000. They are working with grant funders and donors to increase the base matching. Total funding needed for infrastructure for distance learning is approximately $50,000, and summer school instruction funding needed is approximately $121,000. The expected budget for these items is as follows:

One hundred laptops and hotspot devices will add to the 150 already purchased by NOLAPS (New Orleans Public Schools) to adequately prepare for 25% of the student population being in need of these items in the future. The monthly internetservice is budgeted at 2 months for 250 devices, for a total of 500 monthly service fees.

They expect to have two sections per core course (English, math, social studies, science). Repeating this for four grades and adding counselors to help address scheduling, college preparation and social/emotional issues of the school closure, they expect a need for 36 staff to deliver summer remediation.
