First, we sold 296 tickets for the Big Raffle sponsored by Rotary Club of Metairie. We had 3 winning tickets out of the 296. Bridge House sold almost 400 and only had one winning ticket. Northshore Mandeville chapter sold over 1200 tickets, and they had a bunch of winners. Moral of the story, if we sell more, we are more likely to win more! Let’s do better next year. Literally speaking, “my hat’s off” to Karl Koppy. He sold over 100 tickets, for at least the 2nd year. Metairie has one of the members sell over 250.
Please let me know if you sold any of the winning tickets listed below:
#0453 Bill & Martha Gossett, Houston Tx, Prize #12- 2 tickets to Saints vs Steelers + $100 gift certificate for Creole Cuisine Concepts (Broussards, Tommy’s etc)
#0222 Tim Paulin, New Orleans, Prize #18- 2 Tickets to Saints vs Browns
#0062 Meredith Robinson, New Orleans, Prize #21- 2 Pelicans vs TBD Club Level + $50 gift certificate for Maypop
If the person selling these tickets contacts me, I can get the prizes to you so you can deliver directly. Congratulations to Rotary Club of New Orleans, we earned $2,960!
Our club is seeking input from members on what kind of speakers you would like to see going forward. Please forward all suggestions to Norman Robinson.
The neutral ground is located on Poydras Street between Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. The Rotary signs make it easy to see where you need to go. Two or three Rotarians are scheduled each week, but you can get creative and have others help if you wish. If you cannot work during the scheduled week, try to switch off with someone else. During your week, the deal is to pick up trash or broken limbs you find on the neutral ground. You can bring your own garbage bag and gloves. The trash pick up takes less than 15 minutes but be careful on the busy street. After you are finished, just throw the garbage bag into one of the public trash containers on Poydras Street.
Week of 8/27/18 Chad Berg, Knud Berthelsen
Week of 9/03/18 Mary Bonfanti, Mike Bourg
During the year, we will arrange to do more gardening work on the neutral ground and go to lunch afterward.
REMEMBER that in addition to keeping up this stretch of Poydras Street, this is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians. Also, if you cannot perform your assigned task think about getting a group of younger folks to handle it for you. They can be Interactors, high schoolers looking for community service hours or just folks looking for a way to get involved.
