Information about Gallier Hall Celebration
GALLIER HALL GALA CELEBRATION

On Saturday, October 21, 2017 (7:00 – 10:00 PM), the Rotary Club of New Orleans will host a gala to kick-off the Tri-centennial Celebration of the founding of New Orleans.  You, your family and friends are all invited to come dance the night away to the music of Kermit Ruffins and the Barbeque Swingers.  It wouldn’t be a New Orleans celebration without good food – so we’ll enjoy the culinary creations of Chef Nathaniel Zimet, a “Chopped” Chef Winner,  from Boucherie Restaurant, voted New Orleans Best New Restaurant in 2009.  To keep you hydrated, we will have Open Bars serving beer, wine and the finest cocktails.  The drinks will be free but don’t forget to tip our Bartenders from the New Orleans Riverbend Rotary Club.  You won’t want to miss the presentation of an award to Ellis Marsalis for the Service he has given to the youth of New Orleans or the Ten Minute Auction (three prime items).  Proceeds from the evening will go toward renovations of Gallier Hall.  It’s not too late to be a Gala Sponsor and attend the Patron Party and be included in the night’s program (contact Tommy Moore at tommy@directmailplus.net).  Individual tickets for the Gala are $125.00 - so, be in that number and send your ticket order in or you can click on the Gala under the "Upcoming Events" section below where you can register and purchase tickets online.  Ticket order forms will also be available at our weekly meetings. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Neutral Ground Maintenance--You Are Needed!

The neutral ground is located on Poydras Street between Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. The new signs make it easy to see where you need to go. Two or three Rotarians are scheduled each week, but you can get creative and have others help if you wish. If you cannot work during the scheduled week, try to switch off with someone else. During your week, the deal is to pick up trash or broken limbs you find on the neutral ground. You can bring your own garbage bag and gloves. The trash pick up takes less than 15 minutes but be careful on the busy street. After you are finished, just throw the garbage bag into one of the public trash containers on Poydras Street.

Week of 10/02/2017, Jeff Hamm, Cindy Hart
Week of 10/09/2017, Bob Heaps, Mark Heller

During the year, we will arrange to do more gardening work on the neutral ground and go to lunch afterward.

REMEMBER that in addition to keeping up this stretch of Poydras Street, this is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians. Also, if you cannot perform your assigned task think about getting a group of younger folks to handle it for you. They can be Interactors, high schoolers looking for community service hours or just folks looking for a way to get involved.
