Ashley Castello has been the Executive Director of the Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation (LHF) since January 2021.  Her first involvement with the organization was as a community member, when her son, Max, was diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia A at birth.  Ashley joined the board of directors of LHF with the hope of making a positive difference for families affected by bleeding disorders, which eventually led her to becoming the Executive Director. Ashley has also served on the Advocacy Leadership Council of the Hemophilia Federation of America and currently serves on their board.  As Executive Director of LHF, she is dedicated to continuously evolving and improving the organization and ensuring that the bleeding disorders community has a thriving chapter for many years to come.  Prior to her current role, Ashley served as an educator in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for sixteen years.  Her career in EBR began in 2004 as a middle school teacher. In 2009, she obtained her Master of Education in school counseling and served as Audubon Elementary's school counselor for five years, being honored as the Elementary School Counselor of the Year in 2013. Her last six years as an educator were served as an ICARE Specialist, where she provided prevention services to five schools in EBR and the adjudicated youth program as a Licensed Prevention Professional. In 2019, Ashley was named Licensed Prevention Professional of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers. She resides in her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana with her husband, Casey, and their two sons, Leo and Max.
