Meet our Joan of Arc
Our November 6th speaker was Marley Marsalis, who received our club’s second travel scholarship to visit our Sister City Rotary Club in Orléans France.

Marley Marsalis born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 22nd, 2005, currently 19 years old and is the daughter of Kaya and Jason Marsalis, and the granddaughter of both the late Delores and Ellis Marsalis and the late Patricia Horne-Love and David Belfield. Marley lived in France from the years of 2016 to 2018 where she learned the ability to speak French, while developing a passion for fighting social injustice issues on an international level. Upon returning to New Orleans, she took advantage of her experiences from living in France and was granted the opportunity of representing the 2024 Joan of Arc Maid after winning the Krewe de Jeanne D'Arc maid application contest. Outside of her international involvement, she has been playing piano since the age of five, excluding the hiatus from her living in France. Marley occasionally performs at Snug Harbor and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on her father’s set. She was featured in a documentary titled, Music Pictures: New Orleans with her father and grandfather shortly before his passing. This film marked the only time in history that three generations have been recorded on an album, earning Marley the opportunity of becoming a Voting Member of the Grammy Recording Academy. Marley performed at the film’s premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and accepted the 2023 Grammy Trustees Award with her father on behalf of her late grandfather, Ellis Marsalis. Marley is currently an undergraduate Freshman at Tulane University double majoring in Music Performance and Political Science and Minoring in French. Marley is currently an elected member of the Tulane Residential Hall Association serving as Director of Community Engagement, a member of Tulane's Black Student Union, and a writer for Tulane's newspaper, The Hullabaloo.
Paul Harris Wheels Update
Paul Harris Wheels update
I want to update the club on the status of the wheels.

Thanks to all of the members that participated in the “Wheels” program. We currently have 3 new $100 wheel donors. To complete this wheel, we require 2 more $100 donors.  I addition, we are looking for point donors! These points donors can be you! If during your time in Rotary you have donated money to the IR Foundation and you have already received a Paul Harris fellowship, to can donate your points. Just contact me for details at 786-223-6051.

With an additional five new donations of $100 we will be drawing another new Paul Harris Fellow at the meeting this week! Once a wheel is completed and all of the donations are collected, all the names are placed in a hat to draw one person and that person will receive the Paul Harris Fellow Award. It’s That simple.
Please Join me in making the Paul Harris Wheels a success!

The Four Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:
Of the things we think, say or do:

1.     Is it the TRUTH?

2.     Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3.     Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4.     Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
