The club is on Facebook in two different ways and we encourage everyone to connect in both ways. We have a Facebook PAGE that is public and meant as a way for us to show the rest of the world what we do, including convincing prospective members that we are worth joining. Please like the page if you haven't already, and invite others to like it too!
We also have a Facebook GROUP that is only for members and not accessible to others. The purpose of this group is to share information with fellow members, and ask for help when there is something you think other members can help with. Think of it as the fun bucket, just free (but you can always donate to NORFI if you want). Also think of it as somewhere to share something that you think is not quite important or club-relevant enough that you would email all the members about it, but you DO want people to know. Shameless self-promotion is perfectly acceptable.
The neutral ground is located on Poydras Street between Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. The new signs make it easy to see where you need to go. Two or three Rotarians are scheduled each week, but you can get creative and have others help if you wish. If you cannot work during the scheduled week, try to switch off with someone else. During your week, the deal is to pick up trash or broken limbs you find on the neutral ground. You can bring your own garbage bag and gloves. The trash pick up takes less than 15 minutes but be careful on the busy street. After you are finished, just throw the garbage bag into one of the public trash containers on Poydras Street.

During the year, we will arrange to do more gardening work on the neutral ground and go to lunch afterward.
REMEMBER that in addition to keeping up this stretch of Poydras Street, this is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians. Also, if you cannot perform your assigned task think about getting a group of younger folks to handle it for you. They can be Interactors, high schoolers looking for community service hours or just folks looking for a way to get involved.
Member of the Week - Edward Paul Cohn, D.MIN., D.D.
Rabbi, Congregation Temple Sinai
Rabbi Cohn was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is married to the former Andrea Levy and they have two daughters, Jennifer and Debra, three grandsons, Maxwell Cohn Kesselheim, Leo Samuel Kesselheim, and Noah Asher Krarr; and two granddaughters, Ryann Eliza Kraar and Sydney Paige Kesselheim. Second only to his family, of course, has always been his rabbinate as Senior Rabbi of Congregation Temple Sinai whose Jewish families the rabbi has been honored to serve for 28 years.
Rabbi Edward Paul Cohn received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Cincinnati in 1970, his Master of Hebrew Letters degree from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1974, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the St. Paul School of Theology in 1984. In 1999, the Rabbi was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
He is a past president of the Southwest Association of Reform Rabbis. Rabbi Cohn was appointed by Mayor Marc Morial to Chair the New Orleans Holocaust Memorial Project and has been appointed to serve as a Commissioner on the New Orleans Civil Service Commission by Mayor Landrieu. Dr. Cohn served as founding Chairman of the City Human Relations Committee and is an active leader in the Jewish and larger communities of the New Orleans metropolitan region.
The Rabbi served as ethics consultant for MSNBC and appeared on “The Ethical Edge.” Under Rabbi Cohn’s leadership Temple Sinai has become the Jewish address for interfaith married families, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Jews, Alcoholics Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous. In 2014 Rabbi Cohn was honored with the Urban League’s Living Legend Award and the Weiss Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The Rabbi has served as adjunct Professor of Jewish Studies at Dillard University, Xavier University and the Notre Dame Seminary. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors of Xavier University. As of June 2016, Rabbi Cohn serves Congregation Temple Sinai in his new position as Rabbi Emeritus.
