Dr. Shannon Campbell is Senior Associate Vice-President for The University of Southern Mississippi’s Coastal Operations which includes overseeing the universities’ vision for its coastal operations being a national leader in addressing issues relevant to people in coastal and maritime settings.

Dr. Campbell previously served eight years as the Director of USM’s Trent Lott National Center, seventeen years in community college leadership, and been co-owner of small business with her husband for more than 28 years. Campbell is an experienced researcher of applied science, a facilitator of strategic planning processes, and she has administered tens of millions of dollars in federal and state grants.

Campbell serves on the Mississippi Coast Foreign Trade Zone Advisory Board and is a certified Project Management Professional. She is an active leader in supporting our nation’s military by helping launch the Mississippi Defense Initiative and is currently serving as an Honorary Commander for 81^st Training Wing at Keesler Air Force Base. She earned an Industrial Engineering bachelor’s degree and worked as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing for five years prior to earning Master’s and Doctorate degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi.
