Cash Donations:
1. St. Xavier’s/Updated in bold. Jim Willeford will match Randy Feldman’s
match and go one better. Jim is donating what would otherwise be his current
dues for our club lunches to St. Xavier’s, while Randy’s donation is $100. But
now both Jim and Randy will each contribute an extra $10 for every $100
donated by club members. So, if you contribute $100, they will both
contribute an extra $10. If you contribute $1,000, they will both contribute an
extra $100, etc. This match is good through May 31. Make your donation to
NORFI and in the memo line write St. Xavier’s and send it to Mary L.

2. NORFI. Dottie Nelson reports that NORFI has been active coordinating
with charitable organizations around the city to satisfy the main need of our
citizenry: food. Its efforts have been welcomed and applauded, as Mary
Bonfanti and her helpers have received expressions of heart-wrenching
gratitude. Dottie is now asking you to help NORFI continue to help those in
need, by considering a donation to NORFI that would otherwise be your
current dues for our club lunches. And if you are celebrating a birthday
during this time, to consider donating to NORFI in gratitude for this
milestone in your life. NORFI appreciates your contributions to its
efforts that are so needed at this time. We are showing how we Rotarians live the 4-Way Test as we build goodwill for our club and share the benefit of our engagement with each other.
3. Roy and Marilyn Lally. Past President of the Rotary Club of Westwego and his wife, Marilyn, have a page on the gofundme website. Marilyn had a stroke a few years back, has congestive heart failure and is confined to her bed. Her husband Roy Lally Jr. had a stroke a few years ago, back surgery recently along with two double hernia’s that he still needs surgery on. Roy is struggling to take care of Marilyn both physically and financially. Roy is retired from Stewart and Stevenson and can no longer keep up with the compounding medical and supplies bills, along with the professional help needed on a daily basis. We have a received this information from our friends at the RCO Westwego who are seeking support for a fellow Rotarian.

The New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) announced a new partnership with Get Shift Done to launch the Get Shift Done for NOLA initiative, which will coordinate, schedule, and pay unemployed hospitality workers for hourly shifts at Second Harvest Food Bank and other community-oriented food suppliers. Get Shift Done for NOLA provides wages of $10 an hour to workers left jobless by the COVID-19 pandemic. These workers are filling critical roles to provide meals for the critically ill, homeless, and families directly impacted by COVID-19. Through this partnership, these roles, which were previously filled by volunteers, will now provide income-generating opportunities for critical members of our community. Get Shift Done will connect individuals to shift-work opportunities, including food prep, assembly, and delivery services on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank and others. The project is targeting initially the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither enrolled in school nor participating in the labor market. For more information visit www.nolaba.org. 2. City Business reports the jobs below are listed at worknola.com, which shows the following companies that have an immediate need for workers. Regional employers also continue to post new, single job openings on worknola.com’s Current Jobs page. Additional job openings are listed on Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Facebook page and BR Works in the Baton Rouge area. • Adia, a staffing company, said it is seeking numerous retail workers for the “essential services” economy. • Big Easy Blends said it is adding at least 30 new temporary positions locally to its production line. • Bollinger said it is hiring for 22 openings in professional/staff administration and production trades/crafts. • Entergy & Keystring Labs (Entergy’s innovation center) – Seeking employees for numerous positions in IT, product management, business operations and more. Jobs located in the Woodlands, Texas area may be worked remotely from the New Orleans office. • Geocent – Actively filling many positions in software, IT and more. Many jobs located in other offices across the country may be worked remotely from New Orleans. • Nanno, in partnership with local company Kaleidoscope Early Learning, said it is adding 200+ babysitters to its online platform to provide in-home childcare for essential workers. • Ochsner Health – Hiring for 2,000 open positions – non-medical and medical – across the system. • Posigen said it is hiring for over 20 roles from account management to field operations to procurement and logistics. • Pinnacle Security said it’s looking to immediately hire 15-20 quality, experienced workers for armed security positions. More open positions will likely follow soon, the company said. • Revolution Foods said it’s hiring for a wide variety of temporary positions as the company shifts its operations to preparing healthy contingency meals for children and families at school and community relief sites. • Rouses said it is hiring for nearly all roles, including stockers, cashiers, and cleaning crew. • Zatarain’s said job seekers may apply on their corporate site. National employers with regional locations in Louisiana also are hiring: • Amazon said it is adding 100,000 workers nationwide. • America Works of Louisiana provides job skills training and job placement assistance to anyone in Louisiana ages 18-64 who is receiving Social Security or Social Security disability and wants to return to work, including during the pandemic. • Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) Gulf Coast said the AWG warehouse in Pearl River is hiring 84 full-time operators. • CVS said it is accelerating a plan to fill over 32,000 part-time and full-time positions across the country. • Dollar General said it plans to hire 50,000 employees by the end of April to accommodate the increase in shoppers. • Domino’s Pizza said it’s adding 10,000 employees nationwide. • Instacart said it’s adding 300,000 shoppers to its payroll. • Lowe’s said it’s hiring 30,000 full-time, part-time, overnight, and seasonal roles. • Outschool said it’s seeking 5,000 teachers to offer online classes in light of school closures. • Papa John’s said it’s aiming to hire up to 20,000 new team members across the country for delivery and takeout roles. • PepsiCo said it’s adding 6,000 new employees. • Small Business Administration (SBA) – Hiring for numerous openings on the Disaster Recovery Team, including call center customer service, loan processing, legal review, and program support. Learn more here. • U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting for thousands of jobs across the country. • Walgreen’s is hiring 9,500 new workers and giving bonuses in response to the pandemic. • Whole Foods said it’s hiring over 7,000 employees to fill front-end, grocery, shopper, and other positions. • Winn-Dixie – Parent company Southeastern Grocers says it will “expeditiously hire” those affected by coronavirus layoffs. For example, a business could indicate that they’re only accepting orders for delivery, or that they’re temporarily closed.
