Warren Easton - Students in Transition Center
I am writing to let you know about a new project that NORFI is sponsoring to assist Warren Easton students especially impacted by circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are a number of students who have found themselves in very tentative living conditions, some even homeless, due to the effects which this virus has had on our economy.  They have very basic needs such as food, clothing and personal hygiene items.

In what I believe to be a very proactive move, Warren Easton has provided a classroom dedicated to helping these students meet their needs.  It is equipped with a clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator and a storage area for food and other supplies. The school’s faculty and staff are extremely close to their students and are aware of the particular circumstances each one is experiencing.  No student can be expected to learn when they are hungry or deprived of everyday necessities. Unfortunately, the economic impacts from this pandemic will be felt for the unforeseeable future. Access to and use of this room will be closely monitored.

I understand very well that each of us has been inundated with requests for donations over the past months.  For the first time in its history the NORFI Board has voted to match dollar for dollar any contribution to this project up to a maximum of $10,000.

Our Club has always had a special connection with Warren Easton.  I hope you will consider this earnest request.

Donations can be made by credit card directly through the NORFI website at: https://norfinola.org/donate/

Yours in the Spirit of Rotary,

Mary Bonfanti
