Rotary Fellowships
Rotary Fellowships are international groups whose members share a common interest.  Being part of a fellowhip is a way to make friends around the world, explore a hobby or profession, and enhance your Rotary experience.  Fellowships are open to Rotarians, family members, program participants, and alumni.  Visit http://rotary.org/fellowships to find out how to join one of the nearly 80 fellowships or start a new one!
Call for Speakers
Our club is seeking input from members on what kind of speakers you would like to see going forward.  Please forward all suggestions to Josh Danzig.
Neutral Ground Maintenance--You Are Needed!

The neutral ground is located on Poydras Street between Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. The Rotary signs make it easy to see where you need to go. Two or three Rotarians are scheduled each week, but you can get creative and have others help if you wish. If you cannot work during the scheduled week, try to switch off with someone else. During your week, the deal is to pick up trash or broken limbs you find on the neutral ground. You can bring your own garbage bag and gloves. The trash pick up takes less than 15 minutes but be careful on the busy street. After you are finished, just throw the garbage bag into one of the public trash containers on Poydras Street.

Week of 09/02/19  Joanna Sternberg, Frank Stewart

Week of 09/09/19  Chais Sweat, Melanie Talia

During the year, we will arrange to do more gardening work on the neutral ground and go to lunch afterward.

REMEMBER that in addition to keeping up this stretch of Poydras Street, this is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians. Also, if you cannot perform your assigned task think about getting a group of younger folks to handle it for you. They can be Interactors, high schoolers looking for community service hours or just folks looking for a way to get involved.

Member Spotlight

Joe Liss

Growing up In Long Beach, CA, I moved to Louisiana, matriculating from UNO with an accounting degree. Worked my way through school at DH Holmes. (Remember them?!)  Retired in 2010 from a satisfying self employed career as a CPA. Then got licensed as a New Orleans tour guide, leading walking tours of the French Quarter and ultimately Italy! My second career is Executive Coaching. It is humbling to see the strides made by clients through our group and individual meetings. Remember the old saying "If you do what you love, you never work a day in your life"? I'm there and have never been happier!
My wife Annette and I got married July 26, 2014. We love going to fairs, road trips to anywhere, and always lots of laughter. We have a grandson from Annette's daughter and my daughter is due with her first child in November, 2019. We have 4 fur babies: 2 toy poodles (Panterra and Zoe), a standard poodle (Bassie), and a field spaniel (Torree). Life is hopping and we are blessed!
I've embraced the position of liaison between our club and the GNO Interact and Rotaract Clubs. They thirst for mentors and I grow so much from being with them. Exciting to participate in activities with future leaders. I also donate time to the Angola Reentry Program by coaching returned Angola citizens. How can we expect significant change from their prior behaviors if we don't help them with their transition?
Building relationships is my passion!  Let’s get together and "do coffee"!
